welcome to downtown, er, Glasgow?
so, a wee backblip as i was in Glasgow all day until catching one of the last trains back east. great time catching up with some good friends from aberdeen who came down for a few beverages and a farewell. arrived off the train at waverley to the bangs and cracks of the Tattoo fireworks over the castle - nae bad!
So, i realise other blippers have been capturing this too, but George Square, central Glasgow has been transformed into a scene from Philadelphia for the fiming of "World War Z". It really is incredibly surreal - an odd mish mash of US yellow traffic lights; 'don't walk' signs; SWAT vehicles and North American false facades on our Scottish buldings. A friend on facebook has even posted a candid shot of Brad Pitt himself. i don't know anyone who has been asked to be an extra in the film, although i probably do know a few suitable zombies if they'd asked :)
thought i'd play with the processing a little on this one given how unreal it feels in some respects. there's no doubt it does have that US feel to an otherwise truly Scottish city! i hope the producers have managed to cut out Greggs the bakers in their filming; could be a give away.
ps. blip has made me want to invest in photoshop - any suggestions as to the cheapest way of investing?!
