A culture of violins

Since I didn't know the collective noun to use for violins I opted for the above. It was between that and a history of violins but culture won out in the bad pun stakes.

After work today I had to nip home, meet Maddy from school, then head back into town. We had to head to Stringers as Maddy has been playing a 3/4 size violin for school and her teacher reckoned she'd need a full size for high school. The staff in stringers were great. The chap who served us was very helpful and gave plenty of advice without pressuring us to spend more than we had to.

I'd have loved to shell out on a nice vintage or custom violin for her, but there's a chance that once she gets to high school she'll decide it's not cool to play violin. In the end we opted for one a couple of models up from the basic kit which should last her through high school and beyond and, if she sticks in (which she hopefully will as she also plays guitar, bass and has taught herself the rudiments of the keyboard), I can trade it in and upgrade at a later stage.

While they don't have the same object of desire feel as guitars for me I still thought these vintage ones were pretty beautiful.
