Poem
There's a small area at the side of the canal towpath with 2 benches. There are lots of pots with flowers and 2 plaques with people's dates on. This poem is on one but I've cut out the person's name so as not to be intrusive. The surviving relative was there today tending the flowers, it obviously gives him great comfort. He seemed pleased that we were admiring it and asking to take a photo. I promised to go back and take one with the flowers on another day. It's a first world war poem but no-one knows who wrote it. I assume it was found in the trenches.
