G-Plan or No Plan
This is CLP as a ghost with her grandparents original G-Plan dressing table from the 1950's. CLP lives in their old house and this is just hanging around in the garage along with other matching G-Plan pieces. She wished to stip it back, sand, prime and re-paint it to use in her bedroom lovingly. It holds obvious sentimental value but also has quirks such as the the bending drawers! For these reasons CLP wants to rescue this potentially beautiful piece from the garage and let it live again, nearly 60yrs after it was bought by her Grandparents. (ps there is a mirror, we just couldn't get it out the garage for the shot)
However....there are a few things causing some anguish. Her parents want to sell the furniture, however this seems like a plan with no action. CLP was in a mode tonight where she rescued it from the cold outside, had obtained sandpaper and begun the cleaning process. The next step was to begin the sanding, before the primer and painting began to make it fit in with her room. During a tea break after the cleaning part, I google the G-Plan...thats when the confusion and indecision kicked in! what to do what to do. On one hand her parents have "plans" for the set. But won't someone who buys it just want to do what CLP is planning? Also if CLP wanted a new dressing table with stool and mirror, wouldn't it cost a similar value of around £300. On top of that IT'S SENTIMENTAL and would be kept for a very long time by CLP and shared with her offspring>? Isn't its loving use more important?
So should CLP make this G-Plan her new Project and bring it into the 21st century and continue to keep it in the family, without her parents complete consent and knowledge, or help her parents to sell it? Or the wild card option...emotionally blackmail the parents to let her keep it as it does hold great memories of her grandparents, who would have got this not long after they were married!
Its unfortunate that the door frame for the conservatory has halved CLP's face, but I feel this demonstrates her indecision on this issue!
