After the storm
Sunday
Today, our church choir started up again after the summer break, so we're back to our usual routine of being at church for 8 am. The skies were very dark and heavy going into church, but by the time we came home late morning, the clouds had lifted and the sun was shining, though we knew the forecast included the likelihood of showers later in the day. After lunch, we decided to risk a bike ride on the Little Miami trail. We knew there was a half-marathon taking place on the southern end of the trail, so we headed further north to Mathers Mill. We had gone about 7 miles and were approaching the village of Corwen, when we heard the rumbling of thunder. Fortunately we knew there was a road bridge coming up in about half a mile where we could take shelter - we made it just in time before it started to throw it down. The bridge didn't keep us totally dry, but at least it kept the worst off us! Another couple came to join us, others just carried on cycling regardless! Eventually the storm passed, and we continued on into the village of Corwen and had an ice cream at the Corwen Peddler. By that time the skies had cleared and the sun was shining again! Today's blip was taken a bit further along the trail. We did a total of 20 miles return, and by the time we returned to the car the skies were looking threatening again. However, by the time we got home, it didn't look as if we'd had any rain here!
