Lac de St.Ferreol

Beach options here are a little restricted, seeing that we'd have to drive 50-60 miles to the Med for a proper beach. However, just 5 minutes up the hill is Lac St Ferreol which is the one of the supply lakes for the Canal du Midi. Water runs down the mountain and fills the lake which was man-made with a 'barrage', or as we know it, a dam. The water is wonderfully clean, obviously not salty, coming straight off the mountain and is quite shallow near the northern shore. While the young'uns decided to take a dip, I spent a few hours walking around the perimeter with my camera. Of the hundreds of photos, I've chosen this one because I like the strong dark tree trunk silhouettes but mainly because of what else I have caught here. If you look closely, there is a man balanced upon a tightrope! When I got closer, he had got down and was adjusting the tension, so couldn't get a better shot. But I thought - what a novel thing to observe in the middle of some countryside?!

I wish, as with most of my holiday blip choices, that I had another dozen blips or so available, so that I could show other facets of the area, but one blip it is. Ce la vie!
