Revel Market

Up early-ish today so that L, G and myself could go into town for the weekly market. In the centre of the main square is a large 14th Century Market building, under and around which are hundreds of stalls selling everything from paella, vegetables, cakes, livestock, sweets, flowers, haberdashery and so on. In the surrounding streets there are more stalls, this time the choice widens and in places becomes more like a boot sale.

Loads of pics taken again and a hard time was had selecting one.

This is one taken of the paella stall man checking the pans - and what enormous pans they are too. About a week's worth of copper mining went into the making of each one I wouldn't mind betting.

In the afternoon, we had to go into Toulouse to take some furniture to V's new university flat. She's a whizz, not surprising I suppose, being the daughter of two academics, and is a year ahead of everybody, so it's uni at 17 for her.

After that, we decided to drive down to the local Gaumont complex and watch a film. We split into two groups. C took the elder children into Harry Potter (in French naturally) and L and I took Alex and Emma into Cars 3 (in French AND 3D). I could follow the film OK - even with my rusty and corroded french, but this was the first 3D film I?d been to and I was blown away by it. 3D TV for me I think!

I?d seen ancient 3D systems working before with coloured filters etc but the polaroid system works a treat for me. E loved some of the trailers, ads and the Toy Story short that went with it.

Emerged from the air-conditioned cinema into the night and very wet surroundings. Another huge storm had passed overhead while we'd been inside and we followed it towards the Montaignes Noire, watching the flashes of lightning ahead of us. We never did catch up with it as we reached home in Revel some minutes after it had passed over.
