Piazza dei Miracoli

I found Pisa's Piazza del Duomo (Cathedral Square) even more spectacular than the guide books had led me to expect.
Day two of our holiday began with an ascent of the Leaning Tower (Torre Pendente). With the temperature in the high 30s, the 300 or so steps quickly exposed my lack of fitness & produced something of a perspiration problem. So back to the hotel for a shower & change of clothes!
Then the beautiful Cathedral (above). As impressive inside as out.
Next to the Baptistry, stunning outside, but maybe a bit of a let down inside, after the splendour of the Cathedral.
The Monumental Cemetery was quite the reverse. Nothing special from the outside but what wonders within!
