Sundial

Don't you just love the internet?
Looking at this sundial, I was not sure of the exact meaning, with my Latin being a bit rusty.

However in just 10 minutes when back home I was able to clarify.

Sub sole vanitas
Supra solem veritas

Under the sun is vanity
Above the sun is truth

Make of that what you will.

Also the shadow is set to GMT not BST.

Still at least the sun was shining, it was warm and the company and occasion were superb.
