That's what the palm tree killer moths resp. their larvae doe to the plants. Paysandisia archon can be lethal to palm trees within 2 to 4 years after their infestation. As the moths are resistant to most insecticides (the effective ones are forbidden) you have to catch and kill them. There are reports about sightings even in Belgium and the South of England.
