The Humbie Heinkel
First of all a big sincere thanks to all the viewers and commentators who propelled yesterday's image into 'Spotlight' - fair chuffed I was!
Never one to jump off a bandwagon in midflow (mixed metaphors - love em!) I've stuck with the WW2 theme.
This is Kidlaw hill, a couple of miles from my house, and the crash site of the first Luftwaffe plane to be shot down over Britain in WW2.
A sorte of Heinkels had flown over the North Sea targetting the Forth Bridge, only to be intercepted by Spitfires from 602 (City of Glasgow) Squadron and 603 (City of Edinburgh) Squadron. In true Scottish fashion the Spitfire pilots 'set about them' with great results.
Due to the lack of any memorial I've drawn a detailed graphic to illustrate the dogfight that night.

p.s. if there was an award for Blip title of the day it would certainly go to
