Dutch Skies

Homeward Bound

A bonus of being awake until after midnight (see my previous blip for an explanation) and the fact that our train broke down right before we reached Lago Maggiore, is that I could witness Lago Maggiore at night. Lit by moonlight and the tiny lights from streetlights and houses on the other side of the lake, the lake looks really magical. I immediately thought of all the wonderful night shots that could be taken at Lago Maggiore. Maybe an idea for a future holiday...

Of course, there are downsides of broken train engines and heat: not enough sleep and being delayed. When we woke up around 8.30, we converted the beds into seats again and had breakfast. After that we could watch the landscapes as we were driving by.

This shot was taken before breakfast, when Nienke and Ellis were sitting on the highest bed and having fun. To be honest: it wasn't always fun today. I guess sleep deprivation doesn't bring out the best in people, children and adults alike.

We arrived at the train station in Den Bosch with a delay of slightly more than one hour. A good job, considering we had a two hour delay in Italy with the broken engine. After I had taken the car of the train again, we drove home where we arrived at dinner time. Luckily Martine's parents already counted on us for dinner so we went there. After dinner we returned home. Exhausted, but feeling very good about our holiday in Tuscany!
