Hats off to the great British summer
Summer returned to Cumbria today!
Still plenty of clouds knocking about but lovely and warm, T shirt weather atop the wee fella that is Gt Mell Fell.
Standing alone as it does I have never had cause to climb it previously. I shall certainly be popping up here many time again though as the views are quite superb from North to South via West. And I suppose if Penrith and Pennines are your thing then looking East is quite nice too.
There was obviously much less cloud nearer the coast today, here it was mostly blanket coverage , though they were much higher than yesterday - certainly well above all the summits.
I chose this photo from several I took because
a) Blencathra needs strong sunlight to pick out the detail of all the ridges
(and Stu took asunset photo of the lovely lass looking more splendid than my own earlier efforts)
b) I was hoping some knowledgeable type would be able to identify the fell bathed in sunlight in the centre of my shot? Im looking South from Gt Mell Fell with St Sunday, Fairfield etc easy enough to pick out on the right. I think this must be the Red Screes with Middle Dodd in front but am just not certain.
Bonus points for this so get your maps out
