Day eight: a clearing
This past weekend, three oak trees were cut down from around my apartment's patio. I was not amused that my shade and little private forest were going away. I was also not amused that the tree cutters left my patio covered in tree limbs and trunks for two days, but that is beside the point.
Today I came home from work and wondered what my patio, what my space, would look like with all the debris gone. There is now a little clearing. I can see farther into the trees now. More light filters in from above. I might be able to actually grow something on my patio this next year as there will be sunlight!
I also noticed that there is a calmness. The birds seemed to enjoy the bird bath and feeder a little bit more, maybe because it was not as entangled. I noticed that the bugs were crawling all over the tree stumps, business as usual.
I am going to miss my oak trees, but new opportunity already seems apparent.
