Imagine

Day One in New York! From about the moment our orchestras landed here it was clear that this is one of the most incredible cities on Earth. Maybe it's not bursting with ancient architecture or exotic cuisine or world wonders, but it's up there with the other big, bustling cities of the world because it's full and oozing with human energy. I got the immediate feeling that this is a place where people can go and have no trouble whatsoever being themselves.

This, as you may have gathered, is the John Lennon Imagine mosaic in Central Park. Dear Lennon, taken too soon, but his brilliance lingers.

Central Park was gorgeous today, the perfect temperature with loads of sun, and for a hundred orchestra students who've had all of three hours of sleep there are few things more tempting than grabbing a pile of grass for a nap.
