Schools out 11/17: Impressed of Israel
Went to the Church of the Holy Sepulchre in the Christian Quarter of the old city today. Number One Son is pictured here awestruck at the dome, which I was tempted to blip along with one or two other images. But this caught the mood for me ? his upturned gaze and his deeply impressed countenance say it all. Plus there is something a bit biblical about those Samson like muscles of his.
It really is an amazing place, Greek Orthodox, and services were in full swing (quite literally given the vigorous movement of the incense orbs in the hands of the priests; I think they would make pretty good ninja they way the work). Huge crowds wanting to join in. Quite a sight.
Had humous and felafel in the Jewish Quarter. Walked a lot. Off to Tel Aviv tomorrow for two nights before flying home. But hope to do the international arts and crafts fair tonight, which is here in Jerusalem until Saturday, and also has a large stage for bands. They've been doing bad Hebrew raps and dodgy cover versions of famous songs at full blast until midnight outside our hotel all week, so we owe them a reciprocal visit ...
