Chepstow Castle
This Castle on the River Wye, in South Wales, was founded by William Fitz Osborne in 1067. Yes, only one year after the battle of Hastings. Obviously the planning regime has changed since then but, I was intriged to note, was modified by his boss, William the Conqueror ( known as 'the Bastard' in France) so nothing changes.
We went there to entertain our grandsons, of Running Backwards, but we were very entertained ourselves. I think we are very lucky having so much history around us.
The pic shows the 'back door' of the Castle.
