Island of Exiles

This is a statue of an old lord who was banished to Hachijojima in the Edo Era. This island has been inhabited for 6000 years, but in the Edo Era it was used as a penal colony, similar to Australia. Many nobles who did not get along with the shogunate were exiled here. I think it would have been difficult but this is actually a beautiful place to be exiled to :)
