Brownie Badges

Was looking for something this afternoon, and found these! I must have "earned" them in the mid 1960s - Homemaker, Housekeeper, Collector and Cookery! Not very adventurous, I must admit!

I don't know where my Girl Guide ones went, but these were definitely from Brownies. For the Collectors badge I took all the labels off food, tins, packets, etc and put them all in a scrapbook, which I still have. Fascinating to look at old Cadbury chocolate wrappers and tinned fruit labels and see how they've changed in 40 years! Cookery badge I had to cook a fried breakfast, and serve it up to the examiner. I was 8 or 9 years old, and I remember cycling to the examiner's house, being frightened I would break the egg on the way!

We used to go on Brownie Pack Holiday in the back of a removal van, with the top half of the back door up and all of us piled on sleeping bags etc rolling round in the back! We slept in a village hall on camp beds and each night Brown Owl gave us Andrews Liver Salts in orange juice, to keep us regular!

Oh, the memories are flooding back . . . !
