A boat and a bike
Working at home today so the only trip out the door was a wee dander to the post office to pick up a pretty boring parcel from Edinburgh bikes - some inner tubes and allen keys - but I extended it along to the harbour to grab a wee photo and, of course, the bike would need to be in it. Never mind, the game is intact - some cycling was done albeit only a couple of slow wandering miles.
Mandy's headed up to Aberdeen to see her mum in hospital so I'm going pack the bairns full of pizza, pack them off to bed and enjoy a film.

The game of cycling
The second element of the game is a system of increasing status and influence although in real games this is more the accumulation of tools, weapons and powers that allow the player to continue in the game against stronger enemies or more difficult challenges. It's the weak spot in the Leith Agency comparison because views, comments etc don't really confer status or influence. Never mind, the important thing is the accumulation of information and the passing of milestones - 100 rides or 100 days of cycling, accumulating 500 / 1000 / 1500 miles. My wee cycling computer connects to the web and uploads details of rides so I see a calendar with rides marked on it and a running total of miles. Blip has its balloons. For 100 rides, I get a nice cap.
Actually, looking at it again, it seems that I've merged 'Status and Influence' and 'Progression Dynamic' but I'm not sure the distinction's a very clear one.
