Ian Rankin at Edinburgh Book Festival
Spent the evening at the Book Fest with Ian Rankin (well, ok, and R, and a few hundred other people in the audience).
Mr Rankin was on good form, tantalisling comments that he's still very much drawn to Rebus, and that he's recently discovered that retired detectives don't really retire, but go to work on cold cases at Fettes HQ. Much potential.
The excerpt he read from 'The Impossible Dead' gave nothing away on plot line but looking forward to its release in October.
Also picked up a signed copy of "Things we didn't see coming" by Steven Amsterdam. It strikes me as one of those really good stories that you just read all the way through in one go, lying on the sofa with a cup of tea when it's cold and miserable outside. Kind of looking forward to the next cold and miserable (and plan-free) day now!
