Land of Enchantment

Grand Canyon Morning

After packing up our tents, we drove the south rim of the Canyon and visited two more overlooks. There were busloads of teenaged kids messing with their cell phones looking bored. Some did walk part way on the trails and a few smoked cigarettes and gazed at the view. The second overlook was more peaceful.

Then we drove across Arizona into California. The heat become intense. We reached Needles in the Mojjave Desert and it was 118 degrees. We all wilted. We stopped only long enough to get ice and water and continued on to our next camp site, a Super 8 Motel in Bakersfield.
