Aeroplane painting
I could've straightened this pic up but I kinda liked it as wonky as it was straight out of the camera. Have tweaked the levels a little as usual though ;)
It's been One Of Those Days where you really think you should have just stayed in bed.
Ben had bad dreams last night, he said that he dreamt mummy was going away and he was crying. So he had an unsettled night, and I didn't sleep very well anyway, not helped by being woken up by a moaning whimpering boy as frequently as I was. Struggled to wake up this morning although it seemed Ben was glad of waking up, meant no more dreams evidently. Just been a battle though. I'd promised him that we'd go out and paint this aeroplane that he had his eyes on on Tuesday, but he was so tired he just wanted to slob in front of the tv. I knew that if we missed the opportunity he'd be upset, and would be asking for his aeroplane constantly once we got back to Worthing.... so I battled through. Fought to get him into clothes, had trauma over teeth cleaning again, got so hungry I needed a snack - he asked for and so I gave him a piece of pepperami, which he chewed and brought back to me and spat out into the middle of my plate of houmous and pepper. Eventually I just gave up and sat on the sofa and cried.
Ben came and found me crying, and climbed up to give me a big cuddle... and then suggested going out to paint his aeroplane :) We are so so blessed that Ben is just who he is. So we got our shoes on (the bag was already ready) and headed out.
He walked halfway there, had a cuddle the rest of the way, and was happy to go up to the painting studio with a promise of cake afterwards. We got most of his plane painted while I was waiting for my cup to get its pale yellow wash done on the inside; and then he got bored (tired!) while I finished off the cup. He'd painted his hands once and washed them once already before the cup was ready for handprints, so he refused to paint his hands again just for mummy. Hey ho. I wrote our names on the mug and painted a couple of hearts on. Daddy has a couple of mugs from Ben, so this one will be my Ben mug. We'll have to do another one another day at the pottery cafe down in Ferring. We finished Ben's plane off and I wrote his name on that one as well, paid, then headed downstairs to choose a cake. Cake and biscuit consumed (mostly by Ben as I couldn't be bothered to have any insulin so tried to restrict myself to how much I was nibbling on) and tea drunk we headed home again, Ben chasing my shadow!
Since getting home it's been more bickering between us, both of us so tired. So Ben has finally given in and gone to sleep and I think once this is written I'll go and join him so I can cope when he wakes up.
Hope tonight is a better night for us both, I have to drive us home tomorrow!!
House update: Still no concrete for the dining room floor. Apparently now it's coming on Tuesday next week. Everything is plasterboarded though, and I guess ready for the plasterer to come and Do. Steve is cleaning tonight, and tomorrow I'll be there for a whole couple of hours before we head off to a campsite for the weekend. Can't wait to see my Steve again. Have had enough of living away from home. As lovely as it is to see mum, and Steve's parents, and to have the luxury of a clean house to stay in, I want my Stephen and I want my bed and I want some normality back - I am shattered!
Yeah. I need to go and lie down. I just nodded off...
