Nothing Broken!
A very mixed day today.
Hugo's CT scan revealed that he has been overdoing it! A combination of growing rapidly, training/competing incessantly and a youthful belief in invincibility - results in overtraining injuries! Quelle surprise.
The upshot is his spine is showing signs of distress. Ligaments and muscles are becoming detached or some such medical mumbo jumbo. In plain English it means in competing and training he has to aim for quality not quantity. He must build in rest days into his weekly routine.
It also means mum and dad have to monitor his activities with renewed rigour.
We also attended the funeral of a family member this lunchtime, which was a beautiful, moving service. It was sad but not somber. For me the mood was summed by the Poem by David Harkins
Do not shed tears when I have gone but smile instead because I have lived.
Do not shut your eyes and pray to God that I'll come back but open your eyes and see all that I have left behind.
So there we go - a bit of a rollercoaster day.
