The World Schools Debating Championships were held in the fair city of Dundee over the last ten days. The final was today. Australia were proposing the motion "This House believes that autocracy is doomed in the age of Facebook." They did an admirable job trying to convince the House and the judges.

In opposition Singapore were expert. They countered Australian with greater technical understanding and carefully held back points until strategic points at which to strike! They were the stronger of the teams from the opening remarks, and were more relaxed and controlled in their delivery. Wonderful to see.

A great debate, and well fought final. Commiserations to the Aussies. A 7-2 win to Singapore that was well deserved!

It seems Mark Zuckerberg's social media juggernaut has a ways to go to convince the House!
