Whales weep not

They say the sea is cold,but the sea contains
the hottest blood of all, and the wildest, the most urgent.

All the whales in the wider deeps, hot are they, as they urge
on and on, and dive beneath the icebergs.

The right whales, the sperm-whales, the hammer-heads, the killers
there they blow, there they blow, hot wild white breath out of the sea!

Last night with all the talk of hurricanes we decided that if the Whale watching boat was going out - so were we.

As it turns out we got lucky, blues seas, a cooling breeze and three Humpbacks, with this one surfacing almost below the boat.

Whales may not weep, but when you get this close to something so big, so primal, and something that we do nearly wiped from the sea, it's hard not to be moved to tears.
