Rookery
Very dull shot, sorry - but then I've been very pleased with the last few, so I shouldn't complain!
Went to Kinnordy Loch this morning, where I previosuly snapped the Flying Squad. Very quiet - gulls all gone, no sign of the lapwings and a few swans and ducks - certainly some mallards, possibly some gadwall. Loads of buzzards around, including two which liked to sit in the rookery. Thankfully not may rooks around!
Eventually two marsh harriers appeared. The pair have been successful in breeding this year - apparently 2 young. Watched two females swooping and perching, being mobbed occasionally by a rook (which generally got chased away then came and sat and chatted before getting irritating again), one was clearly behaving like a juvenile, the other hunting for it at times. Enjoyed them for 45 minutes - my frozen hands and full bladder forced me to move on, didn't even get to one of the hides!
