Yes, Prime Minister
Fifteen years ago, a small group of uni friends started up a club where we would have dinner and do something cultural once every couple of months. We called it Cultural Nights at the Theatre (or something rude for short).
Since I went to Australia, the calibre of the evening descended into farce. People were organising boxing matches, comedy nights and all sorts. Tonight, I organised dinner and tickets to Yes Prime Minister, taking the club back to its roots.
We arrived two minutes (not five, but two) late and were told we would have to wait twenty minutes for a scene change to enter. "But you're more than welcome to go to the bar sir." Yes I am sure we were.
The performance was pretty good, but I didn't find it exceptional. PM was fine but Sir Humphrey didn't quite hit the mark. I've become so used to seeing Nigel Hawthorne's exasperated close ups when the PM rumbles him that anything else will never be Sir Humphrey for me.
In case he forgets, Dave is organising the next one.
