Edinburgh's Bayeux Tapestry - a must see!
Went to see the astonishing Battle of Prestonpans Tapestry which is on show at St Mary's Cathedral until 31 August (if you are local you must visit). Here you can see two panels, one above the other. It is so long that you need to walk round twice to see all the panels.
It is the product of over 25,000 hours of work and research and contains 10 million stitches and 103 panels. Andrew Crummy designed the panels.
By coincidence he was in the cathedral today and we overheard him describing how in one panel, the lady who had embroidered it had written to NASA (I think) to determine exactly where the stars would have been on a particular night in 1745!
Fundraising is now going on to create a permanent home for the tapestry.
