Chipping Show.Saturday 27-08-2011.

Late blip fellow blippers. I have had a cracking day Grommit, apart from the weather. After having experienced 56 British summers, I am not surprised or disappointed. Arrived here just after 8am, and entered my exhibits. At 9.30 am, the heavens opened, and did so periodically throughout the day. As a former boy scout, who was drummed out for irregularities with his woggle, I was prepared. I met up with several old friends, and met a few new ones. Agricultural shows are very dog friendly venues, and there was no shortage of handsome mutts. I would think, that the most popular breeds were Jack Russels, Labradors and Spaniels. The showground is a mere 12 miles from Deepdale, the area of Preston where I live. It is almost as if we were at different ends of the earth. I took around 300 pics today. I no longer adopt the scatter gun aproach, but there is so much to see and record, that my trigger finger was kept unusually busy. I always use the single shot release option, but when shooting the Welsh/ Australian lumberjacks, I used the continuous option, just to be able to see the chips fly. And they did. I had a minor success with the photographs, and won a 1st and a 2nd , in two different classes. The images that scored, were cannon fodder, i.e. those that I thought were the weaker ones, and placed slightly below the optimum viewing height. Now either my judging ability is very poor, or the judges ability is very poor. Regardless, the prize money at Chipping for the handicrafts is very good, and I very nearly recouped my entry fee. 300 potential blips today, I wonder what I will find to blip tomorrow. BTW, she who must be obeyed ordered a takeaway from my favoutite Chinese. Szeechuan special for me, and sweet and sour chicken for the good lady.
Halycon days.
Adios.
