Bend & Blow

As I started to picture the trees in the storm, the answer began to dawn on me. The trees in the storm don't try to stand up straight and tall and erect. They allow themselves to bend and be blown with the wind. They understand the power of letting go. Those trees and those branches that try too hard to stand up strong and straight are the ones that break.

The wind and rain are picking up. Outside our windows, everywhere, the trees have begun their dance. It will be a very long day. I'll be checking in as long as we have power.

Update, 3:40PM, still very windy, lots of limbs down and scary tree movement continuing. Lost power briefly and our bundled cable/phone/Internet for longer. A big tree has fallen at the end of the driveway at my parent's house next door. We rent it since my mother's death in 2007. Three cars trapped there till the tree service can get here. A stonewall blocks them in as well.

Good thoughts go out to Bethanne, she's got a big flood on her hands.

First snap

Raspberry watches the swirling leaves.

For the Record,

This day came in with bending and blowing trees dancing to Hurricane Irene's loud tune.
