This is my youngest niece, Marie-Claire. My sister is using the 'baby-led weaning' technique. Instead of feeding her mushed up fruit and veg, it involves giving your baby pieces of fruit, bits of bread etc. and letting them decide if they want to eat it and how much.

All the instinctual reactions kick in, like looking at the food to make sure it's not poisonous. Luckily she didn't think it looked poisonous and was munching away.
