Rupsie Jane
This is my second barge blip in a short space of time, but this one is much closer to home, on the Leeds-Liverpool Canal at the foot of the village.
My sources tell me that Rupsie Jane is: "Built by DAVID PIPER BTBLDERS - Length 14.63 metres (48 feet ) - Beam 2.07 metres (6 feet 9 inches ) - Draft 0.61 metres (2 feet ) Metal hull, power of 999. Registered with British Waterways number 72939 as a Powered."
Today is the last day of my summer break, which I've managed to stretch a bit longer than usual by tagging it on to the bank holiday weekend. We popped out in the afternoon for our first local geocaching mission, which took in Denso-Marston Nature Reserve, the "Green Bridge" that links Baildon and Thackley over the River Aire, the towpath of the canal (not a long way from where this image was taken), and Baildon Station. Four caches sought, and four found, including our first big 'official geocache' tin, a classic black 35mm film canister, and two much more ingenious ones.
I'm back to the normal commuting routine tomorrow, so expect a return to hurried pictures taken somewhere along the route.
