What a Corker!!!!!
Now I bet you were not expecting THAT picture!!!! It is the Swansea to Cork Ferry which was docked in Swansea Marina earlier this afternoon.
It has always been an ambition of mine, if you can call it an ambition, to travel on that Ferry to Ireland. It's not as if I haven't visited Ireland before. I was stationed for 6 months on the Northern/Southern boarder whilst serving in the Army. South Armagh was well known for IRA in those days and it is an experience that I will never forget. Ireland is a beautiful place with lovely scenery and despite what you may think, friendly people. So perhaps it was the Ferry coming in to dock at Swansea Marina, especially at night when it is all lit up, that set me thinking that I would like to travel on it one day.
I could have taken this photograph from a spot much nearer but I wanted to capture some of the Marina. Swansea Marina has developed rapidly over the past few years with what they call the SA1 being the newest part. Its a huge area which has attracted (as well as the usual flats), businesses and cafes, tapas and other restaurants. It was in one of the cafes that Mum and I went to this afternoon to while away an hour or so over a cup of coffee - precious moments.
So the Ferry left without me today, but one day I WILL make that journey and get to visit Southern Ireland which I understand is a lot more scenic, so I will ;-)
