Octogon Barn

Took a road trip today to find this Octogon Barn in Michigan's Thumb area. It's in the little town of Gagetown.

Surrounded by miles of corn and bean fields, this was a gem to discover. It has been meticulously restored to it's original condition by volunteers. We saw a local TV program about hidden treasures in Michigan a while back and this was one of the features. Well worth the trip.

From here we journeyed on the see the new windmill farms going up around the area.

And then on down the road to some cousins that live in the area who recently lost their father and a week later a tragic fire that took two of their three barns and most of the farm machinery.

Then dinner on the way home at a restaurant with a fantastic view out the back watching white-tailed deer feed in the fields. Six bucks with velvet still on the antlers (camera was in the car)....a kitten stalking birds (she never caught one, but had a good time trying).
