Retirement Home Window Shopping

I am planning, tentatively, to take early retirement two years from now, and have started toying with the idea of buying a retirement home while the prices are low, and while I am still working to pay off the mortgage. Today I used my Bank Holiday "Extra Day" (a perc of working at Bristol University) to wander around this area looking at houses and apartments for sale. I looked at one two bedroom "show apartment" which was lovely, right on the harbour, and within my price range. Unfortunately, it was tiny! I think I may have to choose between a great harbour view and the ability to walk around my living room without bumping into the furniture.
