Dead Clays
The local Rotary International chapter sponsored a benefit for teams traveling overseas to repair cleft palates of kids in 3rd world countries. The benefit event included an afternoon of skeet shooting at a fabulous range near us followed by dinner and auction. I've never gone skeet shooting before. I borrowed a neighbor's gun designed for the task as the shotgun in my closet is more suitable for shooting intruders. I nailed 35 out of 100 which is passable for a flat out rookie. My shoulder is sore as sh*t. One of my shooting mates had some vitamin M (Motrin) thank God. The dinner was awesome and included beef tenderloin you could cut with the side of your fork. I bid on a few items in the auction, but nothing panned out. At least I drove the bid items up a bit for the benefit. I have to say it's difficult to compose a photograph to convey how much of a hoot the shooting was, so I settled on this pile of spent clays in a landing zone.
