girl(s)
a challenge from brian over in the cycling group that i was just made aware of today results in this.
i prefer my cycling self portraits to be off bike, as i love my girls equally and hate to feature either one of them more prominently.
with june (right) i have: ridden as a commuter in chicago, austin, and boston; broken my right humerus just below the shoulder; and sold her for a year and somehow captured her back
with roxanne (left): rode from texas to alaska in a summer; taken thousands of on-the-bike photographs; climbed mountains; and ridden in the snow.
all of this among other things.
i am very fond of my two ladies and wouldn't part with them for the world, they are priceless to me.

some details, for the bike enthusiasts among us:
roxanne is a 2010 felt z85. everything on her is stock except the saddle, bar tape (which was originally black, and has been through several sets of red now), tires (which are now gatorskins), tubes, etc. obviously the saddle bag and amazing ortlieb (waterproof!) pannier are additions as well. the ortlieb is a hell of a bag, and i love it so much i wish june had one sometimes. all components are the originally shimano set and have always suited me just fine.
june is a trek 2120 with a partially carbon frame. most people don't pick up on that quickly or at all, honestly. she flies under the radar but is really a hell of a bike, especially for a commuter.
