I've never understood these silly wee recycling boxes with their shower caps that make no difference when there is a strong wind (often round these parts).

In streets with tenements you get big communal bins on the road every three or four buildings. They use up one on-street car parking space. In streets with houses you have to put these boxes out every couple of weeks according to a council declared rota. There must be less demand for parking in these streets. So why not just have big communal bins in all streets.
