Where does electricity come from?

The plumes of power!

Unfortunately, we all like our gadgets and bits and pieces that glow in the dark, so we need the plumes. Or windmills. Or something.

I actually quite like this image of the earth bonded to the sky. It reminds me of the elevators to space envisaged by Arthur C Clarke and Isaac Asimov.

To ride from Earth to space on an elevator powered by gravity, there is a thought. And a lot of maths and engineering.
