White wells

I was never interested in history at school but I find information about how people used to live in my local area fascinating. This book, which is on sale at White wells (and all good book stores!) is really interesting and the pictures of how we used to live are great. It's so sad all these places are now gone. I especially love the photos showing a 'busy' town centre with just a few cars on show! Any ilkleyite should buy this book.

And I'll use this topic as excuse to mention that tigers, bears and hippopotamuses used to roam around the Yorkshire dales. I love that.
