Passing the Baton: First Day at Big School!

Having been a Primary School teacher for a few years and taken the last year out to go travelling, our daughter Kate started a new career as an English Learning Coach at a Comprehensive school today, helping older students with weak Literacy skills.

"The picture under the apple tree" has become something of a family tradition ( and running joke now that they are adults!), starting with the children's respective first days at Primary School and marking various milestones ever since; the last one was when Kate set off on her travels at the beginning of the year.

Having just retired from the Seconday education business myself, it felt very odd to be seeing her off and not having school to go to myself for the first time in 35 years. On the other hand, I was quite happy to go swimming in the sunshine instead!
