Water garden

These curtains have been in the loft for 24 years but they have now been cleaned and are being put up again in our newly decorated room.

I had them up in our old house for about 10 years; made them myself in the mid 1970s. The fabric is Heals Water Garden, designed by David Bartle. Art Nouveau was back in fashion then! Recently I have found there's a sample with a different colourway in storage at the Victoria and Albert Museum, London. I chose this red one - and still love it after all this time!

By the way, the dry cleaners did an excellent job. The crumpling resulted from my heaving them into the back seat of the car!
