Photo Challenge - Day 29 - Purchased
Earlier this week I picked up this old lens from ebay for only a couple of bucks. It arrived yesterday together with an adapter ring. My previous challenge photo was taken with it (notice the lack of exif).
For those unfamiliar:
this is a Pentacon 200mm f4 prime from former East Germany with an M42 mount. It requires an adapter to be fitted to my Sony A200 and even then it can only be used with full manual controls. Full metal build making it quite heavy.
This lens, and certain lenses like it, are known as 'bokeh monsters' because it has 15(!) aperture blades, supposedly given them superb out-of-focus highlights. I am sure you will see this in action very soon. ;-)
It's in a good condition (almost no usage marks!) and as you can see from yesterdays picture it's pretty sharp.
*edit* An example (Flickr) of what this lens can do. :-)
