A fire wife's prayer
Heavenly father, I'm asking you to send your angels today
To protect my firefighter husband in a very special way
I ask you to guide his thoughts and actions and keep him free from fear
To bring him home safely again to those who hold him precious and dear
Please show me the way to let him know I'm proud to be his wife
I thank you lord for giving me this man with whom I share my life
To keep those you love safe from harm is a goal that you share
I pray that as he follows in your ways you hold him in your care
Unkown....
This helmet belongs to Paul's co-worker and friend. He was wearing it in a fire many years ago. He recieved major burns to his back and had to have skin graft's. Thankfully this helmet help save him from more injury and pain. Tomorrow night at his retirement party there will be many toast's to him and he deserves every one of them....
Today after I took pictures of this helmet I was talking to Paul on the phone when his station recieved a call. A few minutes later I turned on the news and watched in shock as a huge fire burned on the screen. I knew where it was and it was blocks from my Pauls station. Thankfuly no one was injured and my husband called me tonight to let me know that he was fine. Today was another reminder to me of the very dangerous job my husband does. What each firefighter does every day they go to work. With the 10th anniversary of 9/11 coming soon I have been thinking more and more about how many people that were lost that day and the loved ones that still grieve each and every day. I hope that they know the fire families will never forget.
