While today our town council of numpties discuss the tram question yet again and we may yet see last week's ruling, terminating the line at Haymarket overturned, the caring amongst us have been ensuring that the poles holding the pedestrian crossing 'green men' are suitably and warmly clad for the autumn.

The finger of suspicion points at Art College students who seem to like dressing public articles in wooly finery even though it's hardly knitting at its most accomplished.

Now I'm in a quandary as to whether this blip qualifies to be submitted to the sewing and knitting group.
Since I appear to be the sole arbiter of what is relevant for the group, I'm going to make a unilateral decision to put it in.

The day started on a curious note when after having coffee with daughter# 2, his Lordship carried a bag of her operating instruments up to the Anatomy Department of the University where she was scheduled to demonstrate hand operations to some medical registrars.
The designated and luckless hand was fortunately, he discovered on asking, not in the bag but in a fridge in the department.
I forgot to enquire if the said hand was attached to an arm; perhaps not, as it might impede the closing of the fridge door.

With that surreal cameo behind us, we headed to the shop of equal shares for all and managed to get a replacement handset for the phone extension in his Lordship's study behind the infamous door. He complained his handset didn't ring.

Well now it will, so he will have no excuse not to hear the phone.
