The Border Reivers

In 1525 the Archbishop of Glasgow, Gavin Dunbar, issued a 1,069 word long curse against robbers, blackmailers and highwaymen ( reivers ) who plagued the border area.

This Cursing Stone is in an underpass in Carlisle and is part of the Tullie House museum. If you google 'Carlisle Cursing Stone' you will find that many people feel that it has brought Carlisle bad luck and want it removed!

It was wet this morning, hence our trip to Carlisle. The weather has picked this afternoon though.
