Redshank at Westfield Pil, Neyland
Had an extremely vexatious walk this afternoon in Westfield Pil. There's one footpath only. This is unfortunately a designated cycle route and narrows to pavement size making it impossible to walk along when it gets busy. I had Charlie with me and had to constantly step into the bushes to let cyclists pass. Some warned me in advance and thanked me, a lot did neither. One child, who didn't seem to have an adult supervising him, went past me and back again 4 times in the narrowest part, with no warnings or thanks, forcing me to pull Charlie quickly out of the way of his bike. There's the usual boards with images of what wildlife can be seen there (similar to most reserves), but I couldn't stop and look today because of the constant traffic. I like it here, its a nice place, but the traffic (yes, bikes are traffic) and pedestrian management leaves a lot to be desired. I saw this Redshank where the path is widest and was able to stop safely and take a photograph without any danger of some tosser flattening my dog.
