"what do i need these for?"

Today in a shop we spotted wellies with waders attached and i laughed, pessimistic about the Scottish weather at all? Before being informed by my dad that Betty, who is a relative of ours, has a pair in her loft. She's in her 80's....and i just cant think why she might need them!
