Day Twelve: Going to the Sun Road, Glacier

Today's object was to drive the Going to the Sun Road, a fifty mile road that bisects the park. It really was beautifully constructed, winding along the mountains and sometimes through, but mostly in order for the road to blend into its surroundings. Considering the fact that Glacier is treasured as sacred lands by at least three Native American tribes that I know of, I think that was the best thing the engineers could have done.

Glacier is truly stunning, but I think that having this at the end of our trip, I was already very tired and maybe didn't appreciate the sights quite as much as I could have if this had been our first stop. It might also have something to do with the fact that I was trying to focus on not driving off a cliff on the narrow roads :P

Here is a view of Saint Mary Lake and Goose Island in the middle. I did love the blue alpine lakes here.

"What are men compared to rocks and mountains?"
